Chris Nickerson

Chris Nickerson Senior Vice President, Private Client Partnerships

Chris is responsible for building, launching, and scaling Skyline’s private client business. He leads the strategy to develop, integrate, and progressively internalize regulated wealth capabilities, including portfolio management, CIRO-related dealer and registrant pathways, insurance distribution, and the supporting registrant infrastructure.

Chris focuses on putting the right foundation in place for Skyline’s private client business. This includes selecting the optimal regulatory and operating model, building strong registrant partnerships, and guiding a disciplined transition toward internal capabilities as the platform grows. He also plays a key role in maintaining and expanding institutional and retail client relationships, working closely with the Skyline Wealth Management team to support cross-selling from Skyline’s existing investor base into holistic private client solutions.

Chris brings nearly 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. He began his career in 1987 with CIBC Wood Gundy and has since built and scaled businesses both within established organizations and as an entrepreneur. On the corporate side, he helped grow Franklin Templeton Canada, Hartford Canada, and NEI Investments (now Aviso). Independently, he has founded a technology company, an advisor growth strategy business, and a consulting firm where he worked with clients ranging from asset managers and fintech firms to major market index providers. Throughout his career, he has remained focused on moving businesses forward, with the belief that standing still is never an option.

Chris’s leadership philosophy centres on trust, collaboration, and empowerment. He believes in trusting first, communicating often, and staying visible in the broader financial community to advance Skyline’s private client strategy.

Chris holds an MBA from Ivey Business School at Western University and has previously served on the boards of OceanRock Investments and the Responsible Investment Association (RIA) of Canada.
